Strong presence at Midem for South Africa’s leading music market

South Africa’s premier music market, Moshito, will enjoy a strong representation at the upcoming 44th annual MIDEM, taking place in the French city of Cannes from January 24th to 27th.

Moshito delegates at MIDEM include Sam Mhangwani, Tebogo Sithathu, Mbongeni Ndlovu and they will be representing the annual music market during a year in which South Africa is the Country of Honour – ensuring the spotlight falls firmly on the country’s music and music business.

During MIDEM, the Moshito delegation will be meeting with South By Southwest (SXSW), Popkomm and Womex representations in a bid to strengthen the ties and exchange between the continents and markets which have been built up over the past few years.

The Moshito delegation is eager to meet with MIDEM delegates who are interested in the “Business of Music in Africa”, which has been the defining theme of the past six Moshito Music Conference and Exhibitions. The delegation will be operating out of the South African stand in the Palais (stand number 37).

Taking place from September 8th to 10th in Johannesburg in 2010, Moshito, is regarded as Africa’s leading music conference and expo and is an essential part of the diary of individuals, businesses and organisations involved in all aspects of the music industry on the continent. Participating in this growing and well-regarded event is essential for anyone considering making inroads into the South African and African music industries.

The annual event has grown over the past six years to include live showcases, a full conference programme, and a growing exhibition. Its Board is comprised of representatives of Moshito’s member organisations (many of South Africa’s largest) and includes chairman Andre Le Roux, vice-chair Peter Tladi and treasurer, King Phatudi-Mphahlele.

Moshito’s General Manager Lee Walters and her administrative team operate out of Johannesburg’s Newtown which will also be home to Moshito 2010.
